If you applied for an IPO, the wait between the issue closing date and the allotment date can often be the most stressful part of the process. After tracking the IPO Grey Market Premium (GMP) and subscription figures, the next question is: Did you get the allotment?
If you're still evaluating an IPO before applying, you can also learn how to analyze an IPO before investing.
Once the basis of allotment is finalized, checking your IPO allotment status usually takes only a few minutes. You can check it online through the IPO registrar, BSE, or NSE using your PAN, application number, or Demat account details.
Whether you applied for a mainboard issue or an SME IPO, this guide explains how to check your IPO allotment status online through the major official channels, including BSE, NSE, Link Intime, KFin Technologies, and other registrars.
Before visiting an allotment portal, keep at least one of the following details on hand:
The fastest, most accurate way to check your allotment across any portal.
Available in your broker application, ASBA bank portal, or bid confirmation SMS.
IPO allotment is finalized according to the issue's prescribed timeline, which is set out in the offer documents and follows applicable SEBI requirements. For many IPOs, the basis of allotment is finalized on T+1 working day, the next working day after the issue closes, although the exact schedule can vary.
Once the allotment is finalized, the registrar uploads the relevant data to its website. BSE and NSE may also provide status or bid-related information through their respective portals.
If you're unsure whether you applied under Retail, sNII, bNII, or another category, it is useful to understand how IPO subscription categories work. Different investor categories follow different allotment mechanisms, which can affect the number of shares an applicant receives.
Every IPO has one designated Registrar and Transfer Agent (RTA) responsible for managing the issue's application and allotment-related processes. Common IPO registrars include KFin Technologies, MUFG Intime India (formerly Link Intime), and Bigshare Services.
The registrar's website is generally the first place investors should check once the basis of allotment has been finalized.
Depending on the issue and portal, the result may show the number of shares applied for, the number allotted, and other application details.
MUFG Intime India, formerly known as Link Intime India, is one of the major registrars handling Indian IPOs.
To check your allotment:
KFin Technologies is another major registrar handling Mainboard and SME IPOs.
To check your status:
Some IPOs, particularly SME issues, may be handled by other registrars such as Bigshare Services.
The general process remains similar:
Always verify the registrar from the IPO's official documents before entering your personal or application details on a website.
The BSE (Bombay Stock Exchange) also provides an online facility for checking IPO application-related status.
This can be useful if the registrar's website is temporarily slow or unavailable because of high traffic.
If the issue is not yet displayed, the relevant data may not have been uploaded or made available on the portal yet. In that case, check again after the allotment process has been completed.
The National Stock Exchange (NSE) provides an online facility where investors can access IPO bid-related information for eligible issues.
Like BSE, NSE's portal pulls data across registrars, so it's a good fallback if the registrar's own site is slow or overloaded on allotment day (a common occurrence for heavily subscribed issues).
You don't always have to keep refreshing an IPO allotment website. Other official notifications can also help confirm whether shares have been allotted.
Your bank or UPI service provider may notify you about changes to the funds blocked for your IPO application.
The exact timing of these notifications can vary between banks, intermediaries, and issues.
If shares are allotted to you, they will be credited to your Demat account. You may receive an SMS or email notification from your depository or related intermediary confirming the credit.
Example: "Credit of [X] shares of [Company Name] into your Demat account [BO ID] has been processed."
Problem / Error |
Possible Cause |
Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Company not appearing in the dropdown | Allotment information has not yet been uploaded or the issue is still being processed. | Check the official allotment timeline and try again after the allotment is finalized. |
| 504 Gateway Timeout | High traffic may temporarily overload the registrar's website. | Wait a few minutes and try again, or check the BSE/NSE facility where applicable. |
| Bank debited, but zero allotment shown | Bank/payment status and allotment databases may update at different times. | Allow some time for the information to synchronize and check the registrar or broker again. |
| Record Not Found | PAN, application number, or Demat details may have been entered incorrectly, or the data may not yet be available. | Recheck your application details and try again later. |
| Allotment shown, but shares are not in Demat | Shares have not yet been credited to the Demat account, or there may be a delay in processing the credit by the registrar/depository/broker. | Check your Demat account after the scheduled credit date. If the shares are still missing, contact your broker or depository participant. |
If you are not allotted shares (common in oversubscribed issues, especially in the Retail lottery), the funds blocked for your application are released according to the applicable IPO payment process.
The exact timing can vary depending on the issue, bank, intermediary, and payment method.
Instead of repeatedly refreshing registrar websites on allotment day, you can use alerts to stay informed when important IPO updates become available.

Checking your IPO allotment status doesn't have to be complicated. Once the allotment is finalized, use the official registrar, BSE, or NSE channels, keep your application details ready, and verify the result through your Demat account or bank notifications when applicable.
